TOP 10 WRITERS

1. Jason Mraz

Jason Mraz has to be one of my favorite artists. Not only is he an amazing performer but the way he puts words together to tell a story is incredible. There isn't a song of his that I don't connect with on an emotional level. It's good stuff.

2. James Cameron

James Cameron was the writer and director of the blockbuster his "AVATAR".  That is probably my favorite movie. Being the writer and director would be a great job because than you are in control of making your visions actual come to life. Avatar is an incredible story that has a little something for everyone.

James Cameron Picture

3. Christopher Nolan

Nolan wrote the story for The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, and Inception. Inception is an incredible story with many layers and twists many people, not including myself, found extremely confusing. I thought it was an amazing story that draws in the viewer and actually makes them question their dreams/reality.

Inception

4. KiD CuDi

KiD CuDi is an American alternative hip hop recording artist, singer-songwriter, guitarist and actor. He first gained major attention after the release of his debut mixtape: A Kid Named Cudi. In 2009, his single "Day'n'Nite" reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

5. Macklemore

Macklemore is somewhat of a hometown hero in Seattle. His lyrics are powerful and truly move the listener. His song "Wings" gives me chills every time I hear it.

6. Lemony Snicket

Lemony Snicket is the pen name of American novelist Daniel Handler. Snicket is the author of several children's books, serving as the narrator of A Series of Unfortunate Events and appearing as a character within the series. Because of this, the name Lemony Snicket may refer to both a fictional character and a real person. This article deals primarily with the character. The series of unfortunate events was a large part of my childhood. I read all the books when I was younger.

9. Jim Gaffigan

Jim Gaffigan is a stand up comedian who writes all of his own material. Gaffigan's comedy routines often include humorous, high-pitched "asides" representing commentary on his performance from a hypothetical naive and easily offended audience member. These were inspired by his sister.

The Surge
Zombie Preparation Guide
Connor Stevens

(ANCHOR ONE)
There are floods in the Deep South, homegrown terrorists like Al-Qaida and an economy on the brink. There is so much for Americans to worry about, but now a top US health official has added a new fear to the list: "Zombie Apocalypse". This is of course, in response to the St. Scholastica Mayfest game:

(1)

 “Humans vs. Zombies”.

(ANCHOR TWO)
We’ve all seen at least one movie about flesh-eating zombies taking, but where do zombies come from and why do they love eating brains so much? The word zombie comes from Haitian and New Orleans voodoo origins. Although its meaning has changed slightly over the years, it refers to a human corpse mysteriously reanimated to serve the undead. Through ancient voodoo and folk-lore traditions, shows like the Walking Dead were born.

(2)

(ANCHOR one)
The rise of zombies in pop culture has given credence to the idea that a zombie apocalypse could happen. In such a scenario zombies would take over entire countries, roaming city streets eating anything living that got in their way. The proliferation of this idea has led many people here at Scholastica to wonder, “How do I prepare for a zombie apocalypse?” This article offers no advice on how best to fight off the Zombie hordes – chainsaw or shotgun? Instead recommends preparing an emergency kit and survival strategy to get you through the first couple of days before you can safely locate a zombie-free refugee camp.

Emergency kits are a must have when it comes to surviving the upcoming zombie apocalypse; so, what do you need before the “Humans vs. Zombies” actually happens? First of all, you should have an emergency kit in your dorm/apartment. This includes things like water, food, and other supplies to get you through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free refugee camp.  Below are a few items you should include in your kit recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

(ANCHOR one)
yOU’LL NEED Water: PREFERABLY 1 gallon per person per day.

(ANCHOR two)
Food IS THE KEY TO SURVIVAL, SO YOU’LL WANT TO stock up on non-perishable items that you eat regularly.

(ANCHOR one)
Medications CAN KEEP YOU A LIVE. this includes prescription and non-prescription meds.

(ANCHOR two)
Tools and Supplies CAN MAKE LIFE A LOT EASIER. utility kniVeS, duct tape, AND battery powered radioS ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES.

(ANCHOR one)
yOU’LL ALSO WANT Sanitation and Hygiene PRODUCTS SUCH A household bleach, soap, towels, etc.

 (ANCHOR two)
Clothing and Bedding ARE A MUST. YOU’LL WANT A change of clothes for each ROOMMATE and blankets.

(ANCHOR one)
Important documents TO HAVE ARE copies of your driver’s license, passports, birth certificates, AND STUDENT i.D.’S.

(ANCHOR two)
First Aid supplies ARE VERY IMPORTANT. although you’re a goner if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and lacerations that you might get during a tornado or hurricane.

 (ANCHOR one)
Once you’ve made your emergency kit, it is time to come up with an emergency plan. To start off, you should sit down with your roommate(s) and come up with an emergency plan. This plan should include where you will go and who you will call when zombies start appearing outside your dorm room. The next step is to plan your evacuation route. When zombies are hungry they will not stop until they get food (i.e. brains), which means you need to get to safety fast! Plan where you will go with multiple routes you can take ahead of time so that the brain eaters don't have a chance!

(ANCHOR two)
Mayfest is time to celebrate the end of a long year full of late night studying, boring lectures and endless hours of homework. There are many fun games and activities that occur during this much awaited week. With Mayfest, and the zombie-type activities associated with it, fast approaching, it is important to stay informed and well prepared so that you do not end up

There are floods in the Deep South, homegrown terrorists like Al-Qaida and an economy on the brink. There is so much for Americans to worry about, but now a top US health official has added a new fear to the list: "Zombie Apocalypse". This is of course, in response to the St. Scholastica Mayfest game: “Humans vs. Zombies”.

In movies, shows, and literature, zombies are often depicted as being created by an infectious virus, which is passed on via bites and contact with bodily fluids. Harvard psychiatrist Steven Schlozman wrote a (fictional) medical paper on the zombies presented in Night of the Living Dead and refers to the condition as Ataxic Neurodegenerative Satiety Deficiency Syndrome caused by an infectious agent. The Zombie Survival Guide, written by American author Max Brooks and published in 2003, identifies the cause of zombies as a virus called Solanum. Other zombie origins shown in films include radiation from a destroyed NASA Venus probe as well as mutations of existing conditions such as prions, mad-cow disease, measles and rabies.

Prospectus for the rest of the Semester

So far this semester I have generally focused on creating video's and radio ads. I'll be honest when I say that most of my projects have consisted of a little writing, some planning, but mostly flying by the seat of my pants; not exactly what this class is supposed to be about. Making videos and working with media is my passion and I understand that to create the best video you can, a lot of preparation needs to be accounted for.

For the rest of the semester, I plan on creating a full fledged "rap music video." Because music and videos are my passions I thought why not combine the two to make something awesome while still having a good time doing it. I plan on working with Graham and Woody to create a professional sounding song, and then in turn, creating a music video to represent that song. I have accrued a small youtube following and can get several hundred views in just a few hours or days. I plan on going even beyond just posting my video to youtube by actually marketing the song and video on many different social media sites.

Developing a professional look to the video will require actually sitting down well in advance to develop a a well thought out shot selection and choreography even down to small movements made by every actor in the video. I think working with a crew and having some solid direction will be a great experience. I look forward to the opportunity to do something I enjoy for a class. I hope everyone likes the video as much as I will like making it for them.

SWAG

HERE IT IS EVERYBODYY!! Check out our how to have swag vid, fresh off the press!

THE SCRIPT

THE SCRIPT

BLACK SCREEN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH MUSIC: SWAG
(CHILDISH GAMBINO: ROLLING IN THE DEEP REMIX)

SWAG, can be defined as: The way in which you carry yourself. SWAG is made up of your overall confidence, style, and demeanor. SWAG can also be expanded to be the reputation of your overall swagger. SWAG is a subtle thing that many strive to gain but few actually attain. It is reserved for the most swagalicious of people.
Connor: Hey everybody, I’m Connor
Teagan: and I’m Teagan.
Connor: This video will show you step by step how to have SWAG.
Teagan: We’ll go in depth, on “The Look”, “The fitness”, “the Attitude” and of course…
Both: The WALK
Connor: LEGGO!!!

FADE TO BLACK: “THE LOOK” (SOUJA BOI: TURN MY SWAG ON)

(Monologue describing style including clips of examples on what to wear and how to wear it)    To start off we want everyone to know we’re not saying you need to hit up the mall right now and buy some expensive clothing; just do the best with what you can. How you present yourself is an important part of the swag-process. Most importantly, do NOT try to look like somebody else. Be yourself, and make sure that you are comfortable with what you wear. Most importantly, wear whatever gives you the most confidence. Some ideas for clothing include: V-Necks, Hoodies, Long sleeve shirts, and plaid button down shirts with a collar are the best styles for tops. For jeans get some low rise slim jeans, or skinny jeans. If you go with skinnies, sag them. When it comes to shoes, always Mid or High top. Only low top if they are super fresh. As for accessories, Belts, Cool belt buckles, Snap Back hats, sun glasses, and bling are always good.

FADE TO BLACK: “THE FITNESS” (CIARA: PRETTY GIRL SWAG)

(Monologue on the Fitness aspect of SWAG including clips of work outs to do to get SWOLL) Fitness works in combination with your look. To make your look its absolute best, you’re going to want to be in top physical shape. To do this you’re going to need to work out at least 5 times a week. Some key, yet simple work outs include: push-ups, curls, bench press, crunches, and sit-ups. To maximize your work out, supplements are very helpful. We suggest hittin’ up GNC and getting some PROTEIN!!! GET SWOLL.

FADE TO BLACK: “THE ATTITUDE” (DAVID BANNER: SWAG)

Connor: The attitude is crucial, probably the most important aspect, but also dangerous. The biggest key to having SWAG is being confident. However, the easiest way to “de-swag” yourself is to be overconfident. You want people to admire you, not despise you. If you walk around thinking that you are better than everyone else, well, then, you have no SWAG and you never did.
Teagan: Think of SWAG as fashion. It changes and evolves every day, and you have to use your SWAG-instincts to figure out these changes yourself. Perhaps make small adjustments in your social life, like cutting out a bad influence in your life, or adding a new word to your vocabulary. Set daily expectations for yourself in the morning. Simple things like “Have a good day at class,” or “Have a positive interaction with one of your co-workers,” or “Catch up with so-and-so who you haven’t talked to in a while.” Things like that. If you completed this one simple task, then you reached your expectations, and you maintained your swag.
Connor: Be nice to people and don't be cocky!
Teagan: Never bully anyone.
Connor: Treat people, GIRLS especially, with respect.
Teagan:  The day is 24 hours long. It’s a long time, I know. Being happy for half of it is not good enough. Don’t ever let the little things in life take away from your swag. If you feel like life is becoming repetitive, set new, reachable expectations for yourself. Having swag is not a part-time job.

FADE TO BLACK: “THE WALK” (THE BANGZ FT. NEW BOYZ: FOUND MY SWAG)

(Monologue of the WALK of SWAG with video clips to better exemplify how it’s done) Seeing a person slouch is the easiest way to detect lack-of-swag. Walking around with a defeated expression, and acting like you’ve been given a raw hand in life is the antithesis of swag. Body language is everything. Step strongly, hold your head high, and you will automatically have a commanding presence. People will know when you are there. In the rare case that you ever do find yourself slouching, stand up straight and remind yourself of those things that you like about yourself. It should have an immediate effect.

FADE TO BLACK (TI: SWAGGER LIKE US)

Teagan: Now that we’ve covered all the steps, all that’s left for you to do it go out and put them into action!
Connor: So just remember to look your best.
Teagan: Be Confident.
Connor: Treat everyone, including your-self, with respect.
Both: And SWAG OUT!!!
